Welcome to Fat Bike Galway. I am your tour guide, Martin Brannelly.

An adventurer at heart, I have been fortunate to have travelled the world for both work and leisure. Having moved to Galway in 1996, I quickly discovered that there is no better place than this wonderful city for adventure and exploration. Galway City is nestled snugly in the heart of Galway Bay, on the famous “Wild Atlantic Way” and is the gateway to Connemara which is renowned for its breathtaking scenery.

In 2021, I started to offer Fat Bike Tours to share this wonderful part of the world with you. The Fat Bike (so called because of its 10cm wide wheels which afford the rider a much more comfortable ride than a conventional bike), will provide views over the diverse landscapes of Connemara, up close, at its best and at a comfortable pace. If you’ve never ridden an electric  bike before, then you are in for a wonderful experience! It takes away the effort of cycling into the wind or up a hill while still affording you healthy exercise. But you don’t need to be very fit to enjoy it! I provide a personal experience and can accommodate 8 guests including transport or up to 14 guests for guided electric bike tours only. I supply helmets, safety equipment and I start every tour with a safety talk and a lesson on how to use the bike. ( it’s easy! )
